Report on NT intervention delayed

admin ABC.net.au

The report on the official review of the Northern Territory Emergency Response has been delayed until mid-October.

The Emergency Response Review Board was due to report back to the Federal Indigenous Affairs Minister tomorrow.

A spokeswoman for the Minister says the panel is still finishing up its work and the report will eventually be made public.

Editor Comment.

Aboriginal people have learned how to wait, the Kev Carmody and Paul Kelly song from Little Things Big Things Grow, is a good example of Aboriginal people waiting and waiting in the long grass and in the fringe camps of towns and cities for glacial government to act on the over 200 years of disadvantage to Aboriginal people.

This is not the time to be bailing out financial compainie and the banks to the tune of 4 Billion dollars while Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory wait for a government report to be released, and for a ministers spokesperson to treat the whole affair with words of "the report will eventually be made public" is just typical of this governments whole attitude towards Aboriginal issues.
